In the spirit of sportsmanship, unity, and resilience, over 150 youths from all walks of life came together for the MEMBINA Futsal Championship. It is an event that went far beyond the game itself.

Held at Kick Off @ Kovan, the tournament gathered students from ITE, universities, and even school dropouts creating a safe, inclusive space where everyone was welcomed not by their background, but by their shared love for the game.

More Than Just a Game

At its core, the futsal championship was about connection and empowerment.
The event highlighted how sport can break down social barriers, foster meaningful relationships, and spark personal growth within the community.

For many of the youths, it was a rare opportunity to compete, connect, and be inspired while learning values of teamwork, discipline, and leadership that extend beyond the futsal court.

Alongside the matches, mentorship sessions took place where mentors and youths shared their life experiences, struggles, and advice.
These “flash mentoring” moments became powerful spaces for guidance and encouragement, helping participants see new possibilities for their own lives.

Mentorship in Action

A Platform for Growth

This is more than just a futsal tournament,” said Husna Hussain, 27, Founder of MEMBINA Community.
“It’s a platform for youths from different backgrounds to find common ground, build friendships, and inspire one another through unconventional forms of mentorship, teamwork and shared experiences.”

Husna emphasised that MEMBINA Community remains open to all youths, especially those from challenging or underprivileged backgrounds, with a mission to nurture connection, confidence, and resilience.

Through events like this, MEMBINA continues to show that empowerment doesn’t always begin in classrooms or boardrooms, sometimes, it starts on a futsal court, where strangers become teammates and youth rediscover their purpose.
