At-Risk Youth Turns His Life Around, Receives Inaugural Most Inspiring Youth Award

Muhammad Trio Zacky, the recipient of Membina’s first-ever Most Inspiring Youth Award.
Although he was once an at-risk youth, Muhammad Trio Zacky, 21, has proven that it is not impossible to change and become a better person.
He has shown that his circumstances do not define him and that they are no barrier to giving back to the community.
Recognising Strength, Growth, and Leadership
The award honours youth who were once at risk, but have since turned their lives around to become young leaders who demonstrate resilience and contribute actively to society.
It was presented during the MEMBINA Community Awards Ceremony, organised by the non-profit organisation MEMBINA Community, which supports youth from low-income families through mentorship and community-based guidance.
With this recognition, Trio Zacky hopes that his story will inspire others to believe that one’s past does not define one’s future.
“If I can turn my life around, so can they. I want to remind other youth that even when the road feels tough, there is always a way forward as long as we never give up,” said Trio Zacky.
For the first time, 12 youth volunteer leaders were also presented with the MEMBINA Youth Leadership Award 2025, in recognition of their resilience, growth, and leadership contributions across MEMBINA Community programmes.
“At MEMBINA Community, we have witnessed youth who began in very difficult circumstances, but through perseverance, mentorship, and community support, they have transformed their lives and are now uplifting others,” said the organisers.

Creating Safe Spaces and Dialogue for Youth
The event also featured a dialogue session for youth on community development and safe spaces, giving participants the opportunity to discuss and share their aspirations for building a supportive and empowering youth community.
The event, attended by around 200 youth, volunteers, and partners, was held at Grandlink Square on Saturday (20 September) in celebration of MEMBINA Community’s 2nd anniversary.
Gracing the occasion were Guest-of-Honour Ms Josephine Teo, Minister for Information and Digital Development and Member of Parliament for Jalan Besar GRC, as well as Dr Wan Rizal Wan Zakariah, Member of Parliament for Jalan Besar GRC.
